A Dominant Image: EVs and PHEVs at all Booths
It was especially the automotive exhibits that left no doubt that there are big changes underway in the industry: The lion’s share of exhibited vehicles were EVs. Pulling up next to the significantly grown range of battery-electric models by nearly all brands were plug-in-hybrids. And already successful automakers were joined by new ones—thanks to technologically simplified electric motors. Furthermore, opinion leaders like VW CEO Herbert Diess made it unequivocally clear that the electric motor will come to dominate the market, and Federal Chancellor Angela was pleased with the shift in the fair’s product range as well as the significantly increasing number of e-car registrations.
A Fair Leaves Its Premises for the First Time
Add to this a new spatial concept in Munich: The exhibition did not end at the trade fair center’s exit gates but spanned the entire Bavarian capital with many additional expo sites—all under the motto “Open Space.” These urban exhibition spaces delivered the theme of mobility directly to the people. And via the so-called “Blue Lane,” visitors were able to test drive and experience the new e-vehicles on the road between fair center and inner city.
Back to Real Encounters Thanks to a Perfect Hygiene System
Of course, the pandemic was not simply tuned out in Munich. Thanks to the impeccable organization and strict inspection system, visitors and exhibitors were able to meet again “for real” and in person after a long time. Without Covid-19, there may have been more visitors on site, but we still feel very good about the result: As KEBA has long been one of the most successful manufacturers in home charging as well as fleet and destination charging, interest in our products was immense. Along with the tangible shifts in drive concepts, the many compelling discussions with partners and clients from around the world confirmed our approach. Their feedback drove home just how reliable and safe our charging technology is. It makes us proud to be part of the technological change that we have been accompanying from the get-go—and that has now reached a wide audience.
